Children and Allergies
Uncontrolled allergies and asthma in children accounts for the majority of school absences, therefore, achieving control of these conditions is of utmost importance. Children often live with their allergies and asthma because they don’t know how it feels to breathe easily. Controlling children’s allergies and asthma has been shown to improve school attendance, school performance and ability to participate in sports.
Medical research has shown that untreated asthma in children can have long-term, irreversible effects on lung structure and function. Research studies have also shown that allergic children treated with immunotherapy (See: 'Immunotherapy') are less likely to develop asthma. Early diagnosis and treatment of nasal allergies and asthma in children is crucial for their long-term well-being. Our physicians can evaluate children of any age, even infants, for allergies.
